From 1998 to 2002 he was Austria’s youngest chief conductor at the STADTTHEATER KLAGENFURT. Other Music Director’s positions include the Ekaterinburg Opera House (Russia) and the Finnish National Opera Helsinki (until 2016).

 

He has an extensive repertoire; his stylistic versatility ranges from the baroque to the contemporary. From 2013-2016 he was Principal Conductor at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki. In previous seasons, he has taken to the conductor’s podium in Yekaterinburg and St. Petersburg, at the Semper Opera House, Hamburg State Opera, in Tokyo, Frankfurt, Nice, Washington, Paris, Moscow, Lisbon und Verona, amongst others.

 

In the past season he returned to the Vienna State Opera with conducting 'Chovanshtshina' and 'Magic Flute', as well as 'Mariinsky' with a 'Ring' cycle and the 'Flying Dutchman'. He is a permanent conductor at the Vienna State Opera and Mariinsky in St. Petersburg.
